Growing up, I thought it was common to always have someone other than your immediate family living in your home or having someone who is bedridden sleeping in a bedroom while we kids slept in the dining room. Over the year, she has taken care of her invalid mother, her bedridden sister-in-law, her cancer-stricken sister and her comatose niece who just passed away last year after living with my mom for nine years. With all of this, she was still able to be a beautiful wife of 45 years and a loving, caring mother of four children, grandmother of nine and a great grandmother of four. Losing her niece this past year has really taken it's toll on her. The stress has caused her to lose a bit of her hair as well as a bit of weight. To add to all of this, last year she was diagnosed with heart disease. That still hasn't slowed her down. She continues to aid anyone in need. Although she and my dad had been married for 45 years, they had never had a wedding. This past February, we gave them that special day. She had her very first manicure. A day at the Spa would be a much needed treat for her. She could enjoy her second manicure along with all the other wonderful services.
